Tomi Sykaluk

Tomi Sykaluk, 71 died peacefully surrounded by family at 3:11 am, Thurs., June 23, 2011 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born March 30, 1940 on Kume Island, Japan. She was the daughter of Takeo & Yoshiko (Iramina) Itokazu. Married to Konstanty Sykaluk in Okinawa on July 9, 1959. He predeceased her on Apr. 15, 2003. Employed by Rockford Memorial Hospital for over 26 years, retiring in 2009. Member of St. Vladimir Vladimirovo Orthodox Church and Sisterhood. Tomi enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. Survivors include: 2 sons; Edward (Annette) Sykaluk of Sarnia, Ontario, William Sykaluk of Rockford; a grandson, Mark Sykaluk of Topeka, KS; her mother, Yoshiko Itokazu of Okinawa; siblings, Takehiro, Takeshi, Takenori and Sueko; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father.

Services at 10:00 am, Sat., June 25, 2011 in St. Vladimir Vladimirovo Orthodox Church, Lost Lake with Fr. John Sykaluk officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation at Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd. 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL from 6 - 7 pm Fri., June 24, 2011. Blessing service at 7 pm in funeral home.
