Theodoros (Ted) Panagiotopoulos was born on March 16, 1951, in Agrabela, Greece to parents Panagiotis Panagiotopoulos and Kiriaki Faltsetas. He served in the Greek Armed Forces from 1971 - 1973.
Theodoros was married to the love of his life Constantina “Dina” Zafiropoulos in Patras, Greece on January 26, 1975. He then moved to join her in Rockford, IL to start their life together. They have been members of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church for 49 years as he loved his faith. Together they were proud owners of 5 Coins Restaurant which they ran for 18 years. There he was loved by his staff and customers alike.
He loved first and foremost his family. His greatest joy was gardening in his backyard which he called his paradise, as it reminded him of his younger days spent outdoors in his village. He is often remembered for his loud laughing, joyful singing, and Greek dancing.
Theodoros will be missed and is survived by wife Constantina, daughter Koula (Brian) Amling, son Marios (Leanne) Panagiotopoulos, daughter Katina Whinnery, grandchildren Anastasia, Stella, Evania, Ezekiel, Leo, Theodore, Maryella, Ezra and a large and loving extended family in the States and in Greece. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Panagiotis, and brother Niko.
On Friday, September 6th, there will be 11:00 am visitation and 12:00 pm service at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at 108 N. 5th Street, Rockford, IL 61107. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery at 1011 Auburn Street, Rockford, IL 61103.
