Sophia Harbachuk, 84, of Rockford, IL died peacefully Wednesday December 9, 2020.
Born August 14, 1936 in Bielin Belarus and was the beloved daughter of Aleksandr and Aleksandra Soroka.
Sophia immigrated from Germany to America after World War II and made Rockford her home for almost 70 years. She married Steven Harbachuk on May 14, 1955 and cherished 62 blessed years together before his passing in 2018.
Sophia along with her sister Luba Bremer worked together side-by-side at Elco Textron from 1979 until their retirement in 1997 and neither of them missed a day of work in those 18 years. Prior to Elco the two sisters worked at Hoffman House.
Sophia enjoyed her retirement years with her family and was a founding member and devoted parishioner of Christ The Savior Orthodox church.
Survivors include: Daughter Wanda (Husband Mike) Oslund of Rockford, IL, son George (Wife Susan) Harbachuk of Seattle, WA.
Grandchildren Tanya (Husband Andy) Pirrello, Eric (Wife Courtney) Oslund, Kasea (Husband Jacob) Hildebrandt, Loren Harbachuk and Alek Harbachuk.
Great-Grandchildren Leah, Taegan, and Keaton.
Sister Luba Bremer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, husband Steven, brothers Stefan, Ivan, Michael Soroka, and sister Mary Andrews.
Services will be held at Christ The Savior Orthodox Church.
