Rosemarie (Bardelli) Gambini

Rosemarie Gambini 1928 – 2021

Rosemarie Gambini passed away surrounded by her loved ones at home on September 6, 2021.  Born March 1, 1928 in Rockford, Illinois, she was the daughter of Stephen and Josephine (Scandroli) Bardelli.  Rosemarie was a graduate of Muldoon High School, class of 1946.  She married Thomas Gambini on November 17, 1951.  Rosemarie worked at Wahl Distributing Company until the birth of their daughter Denise.  Rosemarie was a member of the Altar and Rosary of St. James and the Catholic Women’s League.  She was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church and had a special devotion to the Rosary, which she prayed daily.

Rosemarie’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially with her loving grandson Seth, and her many friends, including very dear friends over the course of twenty years at the McDonald’s/Burger King Coffee Group.

After Thomas passed away, Rosemarie joined her family in Raleigh, North Carolina where she loved going to Seth’s school activities, watching his soccer games and karate classes.  She enjoyed visiting and having cookouts with their Raleigh neighbors and friends who became her family.  While in Raleigh, Rosemarie attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

A very special thank you to her cousins, Nick and Carole Carbone, niece Joanne Veruchi, special friends and neighbors Gene, Lori and Natalie Lee, Gary Brunner, the Omozusi family and Nick Risley.  The family also wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to Transitions LifeCare, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Rosemarie is survived by her daughter Denise, son-in-law Sanford Gayle, and precious grandson, Seth of Raleigh, North Carolina; sister Virginia Lamendola, Tempe, Arizona; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

She was predeceased by her parents, brother Ambrose and sister-in-law Mary Lou Bardelli, sister Elizabeth and brother-in-law Danny Veruchi, sister Annabelle and brother-in-law William Fair, and brother-in-law John Lamendola,

Mass of Christian Burial with Father Leonard Jacobs officiating at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021, in St. James Catholic Church, 428 North Second Street, Rockford, Illinois 61107.  Visitation from 9 until 9:45 a.m.   Memorials to St. James Catholic Church.
