Robert E. Sailsbury

Robert Earl Sailsbury passed into eternal life Monday, September 5, 2011. Bob was born on March 23, 1923 in Ames, IA, son of Paul and Alma (Snyder) Sailsbury. He married Dorothy Jane O'Mara on April 16, 1952.

Bob served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II and in theater during the Korean War. He retired from the Des Moines Public School district in 1988.

He is survived by Dorothy, his loving wife of 58 years; children Shari (Larry) Buddin, Chris (Cathy) Sailsbury and Rick Sailsbury; grandchildren Nicole (Dan) Cesarek, Marc (Nicole McLain) Buddin, Elizabeth Sailsbury and Patrick Sailsbury; he also leaves behind many other beloved family members and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents and brothers Dale and Maurice.

Bob loved the Cubs, gardening and fishing, but most important to him was the love he held throughout his life for his wife and family. He devoted his entire being to supporting their physical, emotional and spiritual well being. His quiet manner will be missed.

An open house will be held in his memory on Thursday, September 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Buddin home in Rockford. His ashes will be interred in Cambridge, Iowa on Saturday, September 10.
