Robert Leonard Cosio

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Robert Leonard Cosio, who sadly passed away on March 6, 2025, in Rockford. Born on August 11, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, Robert's life touched many.

He was the beloved son of Isabel Molina Cosio and Jose Robert Cosio and he had a deep bond with his family. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1979 and pursued his passion for welding at Rockford Vocational Tech afterward, where he honored his skills.

Robert dedicated many years (17) of his life to Liebovich Bros, Inc, working as a Sheet Metal Cutter and Welder, demonstrating immense pride in his craft.

 His late wife, Beatrice, was a cherished partner in his life, and her memory remains in the hearts of those who loved her.

Robert had a green thumb and found joy in gardening. His love for various indoor and outdoor plants, including vibrant roses and flowers, brought beauty to his home, where he spent many hours nurturing the gardens in his front and backyard. Robert was also an avid Chicago Bears football team fan and enjoyed watching wrestling. He also enjoyed working on his home.

He is survived by his loving sister, Sandra L. Cosio of Rockford, his sister Maria L. Cosio from California and brother Richard L. Cosio also of Rockford. Robert's legacy continues through his nieces and nephews: Special niece Francine Jimenez, Teya Gregg Cosio, grandniece Nadeah Jimenez, grandnephews Gary Henderson, and Rafael Mendosa, Jr., along with his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

 He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his spirit find peace, and may his memory bring comfort to those he left behind.

He is preceded in death by Beatrice “Bea” Cosio, wife, who died on March 17, 2002, Isabel Molina Cosio, mother, 03/11/2019, Jose Robert Cosio, father, 08/07/2005.

Visitation will be held at Sundberg Funeral Home at 215 N 6th St, Rockford, IL on 03/20/2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the funeral will be held on 03/21/2025 at Cedar Bluffs Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
