Paula Harriett (Armstrong) Figiel

Paula “Polly” Figiel age 85 of Rockford, Illinois died on Saturday in the care of her family. She was born January 25, 1937, to John and Harriett (Hoare) Armstrong in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from the Academy of the Visitation, Dubuque, Iowa, and from Clarke College in Dubuque where she received her degree in Education. She married Daniel Figiel on June 1, 1959. Polly had a lifelong love for learning and enjoyed reading, music, teaching and playing the cello.

Polly is survived by her loving husband Dan.

Children: Lynn (Tim) Van Alstine, John (Peggy) Figiel, Jim (Donna) Figiel, Jane (Doug) Armitage, Peter (Robin) Figiel, Tom Figiel, and Maria Krueger. Eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents, her brother, three sisters and Son-in Law Doug Krueger.

The Requiem Mass will be at St. James Catholic Church in Rockford, Illinois-Friday April 22, 2022, at 11:00 am. A visitation begins at 10:00am. Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 North Sixth Street, Rockford, Illinois is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northern Illinois Hospice, Alzheimer's Association and Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
