Nada Culich, 89, of Rockford died at 7:35 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 in OSF St. Anthony. Born Dec. 17, 1927 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, daughter of Aleksandre and Lepasavia Lazarevich. Moved to Rockford in 1962 coming from Milwaukee, WI. Married to Eli Culich in Eboli, Italy on April 17, 1947. He predeceased her on June 3, 1991. She had been employed as assistant manager, children’s department for Sears and Roebuck, Rockford for 10 years. Member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and previously treasurer and vice president of Philacktopos. She received "Service Above Self" award from Downtown Rotary Club in 2001 for many years of volunteer service to Bosnian immigrants placed in Rockford by Catholic Charities. Graduated from high school in Yugoslavia, post high school classes taken in displaced persons camp in Eboli, Italy. Survivors are: son Nikola Culich, daughters Aleks Gorsuch of Rockford and Desa (Joseph) Haase of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Megan (David) Butman, Sara (Stavros) Giannoulias, Rachel Culich, Leah (Matthew) Roper, Nikola (Crawford) Haase, Kyla (Benjamin) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Eli and Margaret Butman, Owen, Paige and Eli Giannoulias, Juliette Anne Roper, Emory Haase and Illija Johnson; nephews Dusan (Marianne) Culich and Aleks Culich and grandniece and nephews Caroline and Jonathan Culich and Marko Culich.
Visitation 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 with service at 11:00 a.m., in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 108 N. Fifth St., Rockford, IL.
