Former Rockford resident, Mike Sykaluk, 88, passed away at 6:55 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 in Homebridge Center. Born in Poland on May 22, 1922, the son of Vasyl and Pelahieja (Miedwiediuk) Sykaluk. He was a carpenter for over 30 years and enjoyed fishing. Mike was a member of Lithuanian Club and St. Vladimir Vladimirovo Orthodox Church. Survivors include a sister, Rose Laputa, of Rockford, his brothers, Father John (Olga) Sykaluk, of Rockford, and Tony (Anna) Sykaluk of Rocky River, OH, his sister-in-law, Tomi Sykaluk of Rockford, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Bernice, his parents, a brother, Konstanty, and sisters, Antonina Poddubny and Maria Maximin.
Funeral Service 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 in St. Vladimir Vladimirovo Orthodox Church, Lost Lake, with Fr. John Sykaluk officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Rockford.
