Marion E. Heinen, 79, passed away at 7:17 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 in Univ. of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison after an extended illness. Born in Rockford on Mar. 11, 1931, the daughter of George A. and Martha (Schmidt) Knop. Graduated from West High School in 1950. Married the love of her life, Ronald J. Heinen at St. Patrick's Church in Rockford on Aug. 27, 1955 who predeceased her in 2004. Marion served on boards of United Cerebral Palsy and Friends of West. She worked in the Winnebago Co. Recorder's office for many years. Marion was active with the Republican Party and served as an election judge, precinct committeeman, and was former office manager for the GOP Central Committee. Marion loved to sing and performed with the Mendelssohn Women's Choir for 3 years and choirs of St. Patrick's, St. Peter's in Rockford, and a church choir in Springfield, IL. She was also part of the Muldoon Girls Lunch Bunch. Marion was an accomplished seamstress, sewing her life away dressing several wedding parties and making kites for professional fliers.
Survived by 3 children, Thomas (Claudia) Heinen of Woodstock, GA, Laura Heinen and her husband, Les, of Litchfield, NH, and Martha (Greg) Muller of Sun Prairie, WI, 7 grandchildren, Gregory E., Charles J., Ashley C., Cameron E., Kevin M., Kurtis J., and Kendra L., and dear friend, Carolyn (Gene - deceased) Quinn. Predeceased by her parents, husband, sibling, and son, Terrance.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb., 23, 2011 in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford with Rev. Msgr. David D. Kagan, V.G. celebrating. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation 5 - 7 p.m., Tuesday in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday.
