Marilyn D. Olson passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Alpine Fireside Health Center. She was born February 16, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois to Arnold H. Habich and Mildred C. (Ericksen) Habich. She married William R. “Bill” Olson February 29, 1948, in Chicago. Marilyn and Bill moved to Rockford in 1952 with their first daughter Robbin. Twins James and Avery arrived 12 years later.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She spent may volunteer hours with the Girl Scouts and was a longtime member of the Rockford Women’s Club where she served in several leadership roles. She especially enjoyed the time in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin while growing up in her parent’s summer home and later in the home she and Bill owned there for over 20 years.
Marilyn is survived by daughter Robbin Nelson, Roscoe, Illinois, and son James (Annette) Olson, Fort Collins, Colorado. Grandchildren Dana (Jason) Long, Roscoe, Tracey Nelson, Rockford and Sydney Olson, Fort Collins. Great grandchildren Jonathan and Michael Long, Roscoe. Predeceased by parents, husband Bill, daughter Avery and son-in-law Michael Nelson.
