Marilyn Dempster Obituary

Marilyn Rath Dempster, 78, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 25, 2010 in her home after an extended illness. Born June 13, 1932 in Waterloo, IA. She was the daughter of Howard and Mary (Brown) Rath. Received a BA at University of Iowa and was a former legal secretary. Marilyn was an avid reader, homemaker, and great friend. She was a loving mother and enjoyed her dogs. Survivors include: 2 sons, William Dempster of Roscoe and Tom Dempster of Rockford, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, several cousins, and her former husband, John Dempster. Predeceased by her parents, and a sister, Betty Jane Reichert.

Graveside service 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 in Waterloo Memorial Park, Waterloo, Iowa. No visitation. Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL 61107. Online condolences at sundbergfh.com. Memorials to American Cancer Society.
