Margaret "Peggy" Schindler McGaw, 85, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 in Rockford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 7, 1925 in Moscow, WI, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Doescher) Schindler. Married Robert W. McGaw in Rockford on June 23, 1946. He served as Rockford's mayor from 1973 - 1981. He predeceased her in 1988. She served 16 years on Winnebago Co. Board, and was an advocate for River Bluff Nursing Home, Crusader Clinic, and Memorial Hall. She was Past-President of VFW Ross-Pearson Post Auxiliary. Survivors: daughters, Marlis (Patrick) Young, and Roberta Suzan McGaw (Koulis), both of Rockford, a son Raymond (Patti) McGaw of Rockford, grandchildren, Robert (Julie) Young, Monica Young, James (Rachel) McGaw, Mark, Raymond II, and Matthew McGaw, Margaret McGaw Sullivan, great-grandchildren, Vincent, Kaden, and Aubrey McGaw, Mairend and Nathaniel Mulrooney. Predeceased by 4 brothers, 2 sisiters, and a granddaughter, Sarah McGaw.
Service at noon, Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time with Rev. William Ward of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Online condolences at sundbergfh.com.
