Louis Henry Stiles II passed away June 22, 2021, in Savannah, Georgia at the age of 64. Born October 9, 1956, to James R. and M. Anita (Dalton) Stiles, Rockford, IL. Lou was the 11th of 13 children. Lou fought and won a courageous battle against cancer and was passionate about helping others trudge the road of happy destiny. Lou will always be remembered as a “character” and for his humor and wit. Most recently, Lou worked for Johnson Controls. Lou was an alumnus of St. James Grade School, St. Peter’s Grade School, Boylan Catholic High School, and Western Illinois University. Lou loved all sports and held a special place in his heart for Notre Dame, the Chicago White Sox, and the Chicago Bears. Survived by the love of his life Elisabeth (Preston); children Jessica, Maureen, Louis, and Thomas; stepchildren, Jeffrey, Kaitlin; siblings Mary Beth Hileman (Terry), Jane Simms (Timothy), James (Sherry), Margaret Yates (Steven), John, Loretta Cass (Larry), Charles (Mary), Thomas (Jody), Julie Downey (Kris); grandchildren Cynthia, Louis, Dylan, and Genevieve; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and a host of amazing friends. Predeceased by his parents; sisters; Sally Stiles, Roberta Gille, and Kathleen Carlson; and brothers-in-law David Carlson and Robert Gille. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. 2nd St., Rockford. Visitation will be Monday, June 28th from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at Sundberg Funeral Home, 215, North Sixth St., Rockford, IL, and Tuesday 10:00 a.m. until Mass at the Church. Burial in St. Mary/St. James Cemetery. A celebration of Lou’s life will be held in Savannah, GA, at a later date.
