Lana Augusta Fletcher, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 81. She was born on March 23, 1945, to Edwin Frederick Gorkow and Ladema Emma Luther. Lana graduated from West High School in Rockford, Illinois. On September 5, 1964, she married James William Fletcher, with whom she shared a fulfilling life until his passing. Lana was known for her creative spirit, enjoying hobbies such as photography, gardening, stained glass art, and painting still life. She was a passionate member of her local community and actively engaged in various activities that showcased her artistic talents. She is survived by her loving daughter, Theresa Prebula; her son, James W. Fletcher III; and her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Fletcher, James W. Fletcher IV, Kayla Fletcher, and James Prebula. Survived by sisters Gloria (Bruce) Welch, Judith Gorkow, and Anna(William) Lee, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband James W. Fletcher, sisters Mary Gorkow, Barbara Gorkow, and nephew James Welch. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Teddy and Macy, who were her constant companions. Lana was preceded in death by her husband, James William Fletcher. A visitation will be held in her honor on August 11, starting at 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Family, friends, and all who knew her are welcome to join in celebrating her life and the lasting impact she had on those around her. Lana will be deeply missed, but her vibrant spirit and love for life will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
