Obituary
LaMonte Verdell Schoenagel was born on July 16th, 1927, in Vernon County Wisconsin to George Gustav Schoenagel & Alice Joanna (Role) Schoenagel. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on January 22nd, 2023, at the age of 95.
LaMonte spent several years as a farmer before moving to Rockford and retiring from Rockford Products after 33 years. While there, he met and married his late wife Virgina (Wotowicz) Nafranaowicz on September 9th, 1988. He loved farming, traveling, dancing, and spending time with family. He obtained his GED at the age of 47.
He is survived by his brother Gary (Lucy) Schoenagel of Floral City, Florida, 3 daughters, Judy (Dave) Zimmerman of Rockford, IL, Angela (Howard) Smith of Webster, Florida, Nadia Lewis of North Carolina, one son Viktor (Darrel) Nafranowicz of New Hampshire, 2 granddaughters, Marcie Flute of Rockford, IL and Lisa Schoenagel of Florida, 6 grandsons, Michael VanHauen of Rockford, IL, Justin Smith, Lucas and Joey Schoenagel, Brandon & Kyle Love all of Florida, Several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents George & Alice, 3 sons Floyd and LaMonte Schoenagel Jr, Bill Nafranowicz, daughter Kathy Love, and grandson Jason Stover.
Funeral will be Saturday Feb. 4th, 2023 at Christ the Savior Russian Orthodox Church, 1802 Pershing Ave, Rockford, IL 61109, time 11:00 AM. Friends may visit on Friday Feb. 3rd, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 North Sixth Street, Rockford, IL 61107.
