ROCKFORD - James C. Leek, 75, passed away at home at 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010. Born Dec. 26, 1934 in Metropolis, IL, the son of Chester E. Leek and Mildred Grey. Veteran of US Navy and IL National Guard. Married Ruby May Mathis in Corinth, MS on Oct. 13, 1956. She predeceased him June 21, 1992. He was employed by Greenlee-Textron for 43 years. Nothing gave Dad more joy and happiness than spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors: 2 sons, Bruce (Lydia) Leek and Scott (Sandy) Leek, a daughter, Ruth Ann (Alfredo) Arriaga, all of Rockford, 10 grandchildren, Heather, Crystal, Daniel, Robert, A.J., Chris, Brian, Shannon, Dani, and Angel, and 6 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his father, mother, a brother, Vincent Leek, and his half-brothers and sisters. The family would like thank Heartland Hospice for extraordinary care they gave Dad.
