Inger Irene Langsholt, aged 76, from Rockford, IL, passed away on April 16th, 2023. She was born on January 22, 1949, in Skjeberg, Norway to Hans and Olga Langsholt. She was a renowned piano instructor at Rock Valley College and her teaching carried on through generations. Her students won several competitions at the Mendelssohn Club, with herself the recipient of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra Outstanding Educator Special Recognition Award in 2017. Inger was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was frequently asked by Scandinavian Membership Clubs throughout the tristate area to present about Norwegian history, language, and music. Inger was a long-time member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She loved baking, traveling, and her Norwegian language “venner”. Inger gave tirelessly to those in need, ready to help a friend or relative at a moment's notice.
Inger graduated from East High School and then attended Northern Illinois University where she received her bachelor’s degree.
Inger is survived by her sister, Anne Langsholt Apaydinli, her nephew Oscar Apaydinli and several relatives in Rockford and Norway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olga, and Hans Langsholt.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm with visitation from 12:00 pm noon until the service this Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, at Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 N. 6th Street, Rockford, IL 61107.
