Garwin W. La Rose Obituary Notice

Garwin W. La Rose passed away on August 4, 2022, his daughter was with him.  Garwin was born in 1929 in Zion, Illinois, to Eugene M. and G. Evangeline (Wiedman) La Rose.  He married Charlotte H. Erdmann in Munich, Germany in 1954, while he was stationed with the U. S. Air Force in Europe.  
Gar was a 1947 graduate of Rockford East High School, and a faithful alumnus who almost never missed a class reunion.  He worked as a salesman for Rock River Distributors for 28 years and after retirement went to work for Home Improvement Systems until he was 79 years old. Gar was an active member of Rockford’s Home Builders Association for most of his career.  The La Rose family joined Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in 1964, where Gar was active on the building & grounds committee, and a regular usher for over 50 years.
Garwin is predeceased by his parents, his brothers E. Martin La Rose and James La Rose, and his sister Annabelle Brunell.  He is survived by his wife Charlotte, his daughters Claudia and Sylvia, three grandchildren and one great grandson.  He will be lovingly remembered for being a good neighbor and friend. Gar was a kind, patient, tolerant person, who could strike up a friendly conversation with almost anyone.
