Gabriele Smith

Gabriele (Gabe) Helga Smith was born in Burglengenfeld Germany on June 1, 1956. She passed away on October 22, 2020. Gabe graduated from Harlem High School in 1974. She worked at Atwood Mobile products for 30 years. She then surprised everyone by going back to school and diligently completing her degree, maintaining her place on the Dean’s list. She started a new career working for the Home Services Program for IDHS (Doors). She recently retired from Landstar.
Gabe was fiercely loyal to everyone she loved. She loved a good cup of coffee, a good book and spending time with her amazing husband. Gabe and Bob were two peas in a pod. She will especially be remembered for her wit and humor. Gabe is lovingly survived by her husband Robert, daughter Andrea Coogan, grandson Javier Jimenez, Jr., great grandson Adriel, sister Linda Sobirai (Chris Harrington), stepfather William Lavaliere, extended family in Germany, faithful canine companions Jake and Emma and a host of lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws, and her sister in law, Kathy. Family services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
