Florence “Faye” Bernstein Rosenzweig died on February 20, 2022, at her home in Hollywood, FL. Faye and her husband Leon (who predeceased her) were long-time Rockford residents.
Faye was born on April 27, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Isaac and Henrietta (Berg) Bernstein. She grew up in Shamokin, PA. After graduating from high school, she worked for several years as a secretary for Shamokin Manufacturing Company. Faye married Leon Rosenzweig, from Rockford, in Lakewood, NJ on March 11, 1951.
Faye was much loved by her extended family. They will remember her smiling face and kindness, and her laugh will live in their memories.
Faye was a member of the Ohave Sholom Congregation. She belonged to the Congregation’s Sisterhood and to Hadassah. She loved reading and music. She sang in the choir at the 5 Star Retirement Community in Hollywood, FL where she has lived for the past 10 years.
Survivors include sons Isaac Bruce (Jane) Rosenzweig of Carmel, IN and Jeffrey David (Leah) Rosenzweig of Kibbutz Ketura, Israel; daughter Lisa Diane (Bryan) Tropper of Commack, NY; her grandchildren Hila (Tommy) Kay; Yaniv and Binyamin Rosenzweig; and Jason and Daniel Tropper; great-grandchildren Noa and Lev Kay; her brother-in law Lyle (Gloria) Rosenzweig; and many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her six siblings, and her loving husband Leon.
The service will be held at the Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 N 6th Street, Rockford, IL on Thursday February 24th at 10 AM followed by burial at the Jewish Cemetery.
