Father John Sykaluk, age 92, of Rockford, Illinois died Sunday Nov. 13th, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 1st, 1930, in Belarus to Wasyl and Pelagieja (Medwediuk) Sykaluk. He immigrated to the USA in 1949.
John played soccer in his younger years in Cleveland, Ohio until he injured his leg. He met wife Olga Jestafie in Cleveland, and they were married in 1952. They moved to Rockford Illinois where he was employed at Amerock Corporation until his retirement. John became Father John when he was ordained a Russian Orthodox Priest in 1986 and then served as Priest St. Vladimir Church for the last 30.
Father John loved music and enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, and harmonica. He also tried never to miss any of the kids playing in their sporting events.
Survived by his wife Olga.
Two Children: Lucy Artale, John Sykaluk.
Grandchildren: Anthony Artale, (his spouse Alyssa), Susie Artale Fritz, (her husband Ryan Fritz), Ian Sykaluk, (his spouse Linsay), Andria Sykaluk.
Great Grandchildren: Izzy Fritz, Alyas Fritz, Sophia Sykaluk, Bella Sykaluk, Alina Sykaluk, Ashton Sykaluk, Alivia Artale.
Sister: Rose Laputa.

A Funeral Service will be Saturday November 19th, 2022, time 10:00 a.m. at St. Vladimir Church in rural Rock City Illinois It will follow the Divine Liturgy at 8:00 a.m. at the Church. Archbishop Peter (Loukianoff). Burial will be at Rock City Cemetery. Friends may visit on Friday November 18th, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 North Sixth Street, Rockford, Illinois. 61107.
