Obituary

Eugene Robert Madden died 3-22-23 age 90.  He was born June 14, 1932, in Litchfield, Montgomery County, Illinois and raised in Gillespie Illinois.  He was the son of Thomas Edward Madden and Charlotte Thomas Madden.  Grandson of John Sheehy Madden and Sara Troy Geraghty and Charles Schwab Thomas and Josephine Hoeffer Kuerschen.  A grandson of immigrants, his Irish heritage originated near Lackenduff by Clonakilty, County Cork, Killavarrig by Timoleague, County Cork, Strockestown, County Roscommon, Grane by Urlingford, County Killkenny.  German Heritage orginated from Kudach by Altheim, Baden, Germany, Attendorn, Westphailia, Dorsten, Westphalia, Duelmen, Munster, Germany.  A graduate of Southern Illinois University and employed as an aviation and aerospace designer completing his career of many years at Sundstrand Aviation.   Married Virginia Schauer Glass on July 12, 1958, in Belvidere, Illinois.   Korean War Veteran, served in the Navy on the USS Porter and the USS Powers.  A skilled woodworker, he enjoyed restoring antiques and was an avid collector of Naval history and unique items. Survived by his wife of 64 years Virginia and children, Paul Madden, Mary Madden, Anne Marie (Madden) Pedersen (Steve), Mark Madden (Sherrie Roe) and granddaughters Shannon Pedersen and Stephanie Pedersen.  Survived by Sister-in-Law Ruth O’Brien, Sister-in-Law Joyce Madden and Brother-in-Law James Alderson and several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents, siblings Thomas, James, Joella Alderson, and Jerry. Services at the Beauvais Center (St. James Catholic Church), Rockford Illinois on April 20 with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mass at 11:00 a.m.
