Dwight Sanford

Dwight Allen Sanford was born October 20, 1947, and passed away on October 7, 2025. He is survived by his loyal and devoted wife Diana Sanford, daughter Jennifer (Shawn) McCarthy, sons David Sanford and Justin Sanford, and granddaughter Elaina (Robbie) Kapala. He is also survived by brothers Kirt (Cathy) Sanford, Johnny (Lisa) Sanford, and sisters Diana (Dave) Hawkinson, Mary (Phil) Edlen, and Penny Lindquist.

Dwight and Diana met in high school and married on October 14, 1967, at age 19. Two weeks later he was drafted and served in the Military. In their early marriage Dwight and Diana enjoyed camping, boating, and spending lots of time with friends and family.

Those close to Dwight had the joy of knowing his fiercely protective teddy bear heart. Dwight and Diana loved taking Sunday drives and stopping for a sweet treat at a local ice cream shop.

Most important to Dwight was his family, he always wanted to have his family home for the holidays and not a soul ever left hungry.

The visitation will be held at Faith Wesleyan Church 6031 Harrison Ave, Rockford, IL 61108 on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11am with service following at 12pm.

Dwights dream was for Faith Wesleyan Church to have a mutipurpose building. In leu of flowers please donate to Faith Wesleyan Church for his dream to be realized.
