Doris Patricia (Hargrove) Akers

Doris Akers, 83, of Rockford, died June 26, 2025.  Born March 17, 1942, the daughter of Freeman and Georgia (Russell) Hargrove. Married her loving husband, Donald L. Akers, on June 4, 1956. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and gardening.

Survived by Husband Donald Akers, daughter Linda (Akers ) Stauberson, in law SCPO Charles W. Stauber retired, one grandson, two granddaughters, three great grandchildren, son Donald P. Akers, daughter-in-law Stacy Akers, one grandson, Brother Rayburn Hargrove, Sister Janie May (Hargrove) Kerley

Preceded by Father Freeman Thomas Hargrove, Mother Georgia (Russell) Hargrove, brothers Thomas Hargrove, J C Hargrove, James Ernest Hargrove, Paul Hargrove, Albert (P A) Hargrove, Sisters Dorthy Sue (Hargrove) Goodman, and Gladys (Hargrove) Brandt.

Graveside services will be held at Willwood Cemetery on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. Arrangements completed by Sundberg Funeral Home, Rockford.
