Donald Blades Obituary

Donald E. Blades, 80, passed away at 10:25 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 in Homebridge Nursing Center after a short illness. Born Aug. 30, 1930 in Rockford, the son of Eldon and Viola (Quincy) Blades. Formerly employed by National Lock Co. and later at Hilander Foods. He was an avid bowler, and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #392, Belvidere Moose Club, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors include his daughter, Robin Blades of Dallas, TX, a niece Cindy Roy of Rockford, 3 nephews, Gael Shafer of Rockford, Dannie Roy of Madison, WI, and Steven Roy of Milwaukee, WI, numerous cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, a brother Vyrle Blades, and a sister, Delores Roy.

Memorial Service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4620 20th St., Rockford, with Pastor Ralph G. Kuespert officiating. A fellowship will follow. Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church.
