Cleo (Pence) English

Cleo English, age 98, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on May 9th, 2022. She was born on December 13, 1923, to Merton Sprague and Lena (Propst) Pence at the Pence family farm, Wyoming Iowa.  She attended Pence Ridge School through the 8th grade and Cass High School in Monmouth Iowa, graduating in 1941.  During World War II she was employed at the Savana Ordinance Dept, Savana Illinois.  On October 31, 1946, she married John "Woody" English and together they raised three daughters.  She had been employed by the Rockford Chamber of Commerce and the Rockford Board of Education.  She joined Centennial United Methodist Church in 1956.  Cleo is survived by daughter Norma (Mike) Hedeen, Constance (Chuck) Novara, grandsons Mark and Ben Davidson, granddaughter Monica Hedeen, sister-in-law Carol Pence, nieces Michelle Vorwald, Melissa (Chris) Antcliff.  Predeceased by parents, husband, daughter Patricia Davidson, brothers Glenn and Wayne Pence.  Burial Pence Family Cemetery, Baldwin Iowa.  A Graveside Service will be Saturday May 14th at 11:00 am at Pence Cemetery, Baldwin Iowa.  Memorials to Centennial United Methodist Church 1503 Broadway Rockford, Ill   61104 or charity of choice.
