Brenda Sue Bankes, 63 died at 11:10 am, Thurs., Oct. 27, 2011 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center ER after a brief illness. Born April 23, 1948 in Walnut Ridge, AR, daughter of Will Henry and Leona Afton (Spargo) Holder. She was married to Gary G. Bankes April 22, 1967 in Rockford. He predeceased Oct. 27, 1995. Brenda worked at Amrock and many years at Ello Furniture, retiring in 2009. Member of Calvary Baptist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagle Auxiliary. Brenda enjoyed watching birds, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors: daughter, DeAnn (Shane) Hendrickson, Machesney Park; grandchildren, Bryce and Bryant of Machesney Park; 3 brothers, Billy Holder, Bob (Margaret) Holder, Lonnie (Beverly) Holder; 1 sister, Shirley Holder Stults; special friend, Doyle King. Several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; sister, Imogene Holder Spain; brothers, Ray Holder and Lehman Holder.
Services at 11:00 am, Tues., Nov. 1, 2011 in Calvary Baptist Church, 6286 Linden Road, Rockford, IL, with Greg A. Whitaker, Pastor, officiating. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery.
