Beverly A. Magnuson, 70, formerly of Tarpon Springs, FL, passed away at 11:35 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at Highview in the Woodlands, Rockton, IL, after a lengthy illness. Beverly was born Nov. 12, 1940 in Hood River, OR, the daughter of Andy and Ethel (Whittbecker) Owens. She was later adopted by Raymond and Ione Clauson.
Beverly married Gerald Magnuson on September 12, 1977. He predeceased her on December 12, 2010. Jerry and Beverly enjoyed traveling together-especially making pilgrimages to Medjugorje, Lourdes, Fatima and Rome. Beverly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved cooking and baking for Jerry, especially her famous cherry pie. Bev loved her life in Florida and leaves behind many friends at Innisbrook Resort. Strong in her faith, Beverly was devoted to Blessed Mother.
Beverly is survived by her sons, Lane (Johnnie) Johnson of Longview, TX, Michael Brackett of Rockford, Anthony (Sheri) Brackett of Machesney Park, daughter, Kathy O'Dierno of Rockton; grandchildren, Tim (Joanna) Lowe and Tara (Karl) Hughes, Jacob, Janelle and Krystal Pineo, Amanda, Alex (Lauren), Peter and Skyler Brackett, and Samantha Allen; numerous great-grandchildren; step-children, Nancy (Robert) Gough and Stewart (Cathy) Magnuson; step-grandchildren, Jason (Michelle), Zachary (Lerryn), Cody and Hannah Gough, and Sarah and Michael Magnuson.
Predeceased by her daughter, Laurie Boula, her parents, her adoptive parents, special aunt, Ollie Labutzke, and fathers of her children, Peter Brackett and David Johnson.
The family would like to especially thank Beverly's wonderful caregivers at Highland in the Woodlands for their compassion and love.
Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 in St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. Second St., Rockford, with Fr. David Beauvais as celebrant. Visitation at the church from 9:45 a.m. until Mass time on Thursday. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford.
