Benjamin “Billy” Rawlings (87) of Rockford departed this earthly life on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Billy was born March 19, 1936, in Camden, Arkansas to Timothy and Lee Berthia Rawlings. Billy completed his education in Arkansas. He spent most of his life in Rockford after leaving Arkansas for the US Navy. Billy retired from Moran Transportation, where he served as a truck driver. Billy accepted Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of New Fellowship Baptist Church.
Billy lived a peaceful enjoyable life. He loved to discuss religion and politics with family and close friends. Billy leaves to cherish his peaceful memories two sisters, Lois Rawlings-Hughes and Bessie Turner, both of Arkansas; longtime companion, Zadie Bragg (her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren); Godchild, Quo-Shayla (Albert, Jr) Riley; and 8 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Pearlie Mae Rawlings; his parents; brothers Charles Herman and Eddie Rawlings; and nephew Tony Mario Hughes.
As per Billy’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
