Arlene Becklin

Arlene Madelyn Lindberg Becklin, 87, of Rockford, died Wed. Sept. 28, 2011 at 6:50 am in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born Dec. 15, 1923, on the farm at Blomford, MN in Isanti County, the first child of Harry and Hildur (Rosenquist) Lindberg. Graduated from Cambridge High School and married Paul H. Becklin. Her roles through the years were farm wife, mother, secretary, talented cook, seamstress and quilter. After her children were grown and she was single she worked for a government sub-contractor in Las Vegas, NV until retirement. She has lived in Minnesota, Nevada, Washington and Illinois and enjoyed all of those places. Arlene is survived by son, Arland Murray Lindberg (Morre) of Salou, Spain; son, Andre Paul Becklin of Republic, WA; daughter, Linda (Dr. Gary) Salisbury of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Tara Russell of Mahtomedi, MN, Dr. Dana (Paul Shirkey) Salisbury of Corvallis, OR, Zena Lindberg and Emil Lindberg of Salou, Spain, Gabriel Becklin and Ace Becklin of Republic, WA; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Amanda Russell, Paige Shirkey, Arland and Ona Lindberg, Isaac and Hailey Becklin; sister, Phyllis Green of Cambridge, MN and brother, Gary Lindberg of Fridley, MN. She was preceded in death by sister: Yvonne, brothers: Virgil and Bennett, grandson; Todd Aaron Salisbury.
A memorial service will be held at a later in Minnesota. Memorials may be made to Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center in Rockford, IL. Thanks to the wonderful staff of Fairhaven for the loving care of Arlene for seven years and also a special thank you to Dr. Peter Phelan.
Cremation services were performed by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL 61107.
