Ardith Marie (Teeters) Lund

Ardith Marie Lund of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, at the age of 88, nine weeks after her husband, Donald, died.

Ardith was born on October 6, 1934, in Glidden, WI, to Austin and Catherine (Wolf) Teeters.  The fourth of nine children, she attended schools in Wisconsin and in Rockford.

Ardith met Donald Lund in Rockford in 1951, and they were married the following year on June 28, 1952.  Their marriage lasted seventy years, until the death of Don on September 10, 2022. They raised four children and were blessed with seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 

Ardith also worked at the United States Postal Service in Rockford, IL, as a mail clerk.  She made many lasting friendships there and kept in contact with those friends even after she retired.

Ardith loved to cook and bake.    She would make soup and stews and share them with her family.  She was always in charge of desserts at family gatherings.  In their earlier years, Ardith and Don would pack the car and take their kids to many historical sites in the United States.  After the kids had grown and left home, Ardith and Don would travel on their own, often to Las Vegas, Hawaii and Arizona – to see the Chicago Cubs Spring Training.  They loved the Cubs through thick and thin!  They would also visit the Glidden area of Wisconsin, seeing old friends and relatives and always making sure to stop at the local casinos for fun.

Later in life, Ardith enjoyed doing the Chicago Tribune crossword puzzles, buying scratch-off tickets (and winning!), and reading romance novels.  She had every LaVyrle Spencer and Danielle Steele hardcover!  She continued to enjoy shopping, gardening and walking. 

Ardith cherished her Postal friends, loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her parents, her siblings Donna Sutton, Corinne Brandon, Virgil Teeters, Dennis Teeters and Rita Falkowski.

She is survived by her son Donald, her daughters Cathy (Stewart) Magnuson, Cindy (Peter) Buffo, and Joan (Alex) Colombi; grandchildren Brian (Keely), Jill, Little Alex, Sarah (Ryan), Michael (fiancé Jessika), Dominic and Christina; great grandchildren Jack, Ava, Ben, Sabrina, Natasha and Frank.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 N. 6th St. in Rockford, Illinois.  There will be a private Catholic Mass and funeral service at a later date.  Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Barbara Olson Center of Hope, 3206 N. Central Ave., Rockford, Illinois 61101.
