Alaray Louise Dunn Derrington, 85, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 in Swedish American Hospital. She was a very private, strong, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandma "D". She was born in Union Grove, AL on July 15, 1926, the daughter of Matthew Earmon and Quillie Izella Dunn. She enjoyed gardening and her Pomeranian best friend, Sophie. Alaray married Fred Derrington on Oct. 31, 1942 in Jonesboro, AR. She is survived by 3 children, Louise Nutt of Loves Park, Dorothy (Bob) Beckington of Rockford, and Fred D. Derrington of Winnebago; 7 grandchildren, Jeff and Scott Nutt, of Loves Park, Nicole (Eric) Meyer of Jacksonville, FL, Danielle (Justin) Zwiger of Rockford, Courtney (Jason) Luethje of Machesney Park, Caitlin (Dustin) Hardcastle of Winnebago, Chelsea (Alex Smith) Derrington of Byron; 2 great-granddaughters, Taylor and Sydney of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Jeanette Dunn Sharp of Russellville, AR; a niece Kay (Romeo) Holiday of Jonesboro, AR; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Fred, a son Earmon Derrington, her parents, a sister, Opal Potter, son-in-law, Norman Nutt, daughter-in-law, Kim Derrington, and special nephew, James Derrington.
