Abraham "Boomie" Herbert Liebling, 83 of Rockford , died peacefully Tues. evening Oct. 11, 2011 after a short illness, at River Bluff NH. Born Oct. 24, 1927, the son of Marcus and Clara Liebling who preceded him in death. Survived by his sister, Edith Liebling Forman (Connecticut ) and her grown children, Marcus, Jody, and Michael, their families, and many cousins in the Chicago, New York and California areas. Graduated West High School and Univ. of Illinois, Champaign, with honors in accounting, he was treasurer, over the years, of Ohave Sholom Synagogue, Rockford Hebrew Cemetery, and the Rkfd. Jewish Federation. Honorably discharged from the Army as a bookkeeper and retired in that capacity from Liebovich Bros. Steel Company. His active love of opera, cooking, family and community are well known. Appreciated are the love, care and attention he received from the staff at River Bluff Nursing Home. Funeral services: Monday, 10:30 a.m., October 17, at Ohave Sholom Synagogue 3130 Guilford Rd. with burial to follow at Rockford Hebrew Cemetery; Rabbi William Fertig to officiate.
