Salvatore DiGiacomo, 64, passed away at 7:43 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2012 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Sicily on Aug. 20, 1947, the son of Vincenzo and Maria (Galluzzo) DiGiacomo. He lived 40 years in Rockford, coming here from Italy in 1972. He married Maria Galluzzo in Sicily on Dec. 19, 1972. Salvatore was co-owner of Sam's Pizza and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Maria; his children, Vincenzo (Domenica) DiGiacomo, Maria (Daniel) DiPuma, Gerlando DiGiacomo, and Alfonza DiGiacomo; his grandchildren, Salvatore, Marisa, Eleana, Julian, and Sebastien; his sister and brothers, Gina (Antonio) Buscemi, Natale (Petra) DiGiacomo, Alfonzo (Rosa) DiGiacomo, and Angelo DiGiacomo; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents.
Visitation from 3 - 5 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford with Rosary Service to follow.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, with Fr. Edward Seisser celebrating. There will be an additional visitation at the church 1 hour prior to service on Monday. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation at funeral home from 3 - 5 p.m., Sunday, June 10 and one hour prior to Mass on Monday at the church
