Leon Rosenzweig, 89, former long-time Rockford resident, passed away in Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami Beach, FL on December 22, 2012. He was born Oct. 18, 1923 in Spring Valley, IL, the son of Harold and Golda (Eliashaw) Rosenzweig. Leon was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy on the USS Cleveland. He married Florence "Faye" Bernstein in Lakewood, NJ on Mar. 11, 1951. He was the owner/operator of Ace Premium & Novelty and Rockford Wholesale Supply for many years in Rockford. He was a member of Ohave Sholom Synagogue and B'Nai B'rith Society. Survivors include his wife Faye of Hollywood, FL; a daughter, Lisa (Bryan) Tropper of Commack, NY; 2 sons, Bruce Rosenzweig (wife, Jane Adam) of Louisville, KY, and Jeff (Leah) Rosenzweig of Ketura, Israel; his grandchildren, Jason, Daniel, Hila, Yaniv, and Binyamin; and a brother, Lyle (Gloria) Rosenzweig of Floral Springs, FL. Predeceased by his parents.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 in Ohave Sholom Synagogue, 3730 Guilford Rd., Rockford, with Rabbi William Fertig officiating. Burial to follow in Rockford Hebrew Cemetery.
