Joanie Carlson

Joanie Carlson, 81, died Saturday morning in Perry Memorial Hospital Princeton, IL.  She was born May 4, 1930 in Barrington, IL the daughter of John and Ruth (Moser) Linville, and was raised by Ruth and her second husband Paul Gehrke after John's death.  She married Joseph H. Carlson in Sycamore, IL Sep. 6, 1947.  He predeceased her Oct. 23, 1991. Joan was formally employed as a Secretary at Rockford Guilford High School from 1966 to 1988.  She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Retired School Secretaries.  Joan loved Swedish cooking, working crosswords, traveling (Puerto Rico, Greece, London) and enjoying nature at her home and cottage.  Joanie's friends and family will miss her dependable and caring nature.  Survivors are: two sons: Jeffrey (Doris) of Dover, IL and John (Wendy) of Amery, WI; eight grandchildren: Matthew, David, Rachel (Jeremy), Thomas, Aaron, Benjamin, Shawn, and Tori; and siblings, Delores (John), Pauline (Carl), Geraldine, Paul (Ann), Joe (Sheryl), and Sandy (Dennis).  Joan's life will be celebrated with a visitation at 10 am and a memorial service at 11 am on Thursday, Aug. 18, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 827 16th St. Rockford.  Memorials may be sent in memory of Joanie Carlson to: American Diabetes Association (1-800-342-2383) or Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH  03086-0923.  Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N.
