Herbert Wuerfel

Herbert “Herbie” Wuerfel, age 79, of Byron, Illinois passed suddenly in his home from this life into the next on Friday March 10, 2017.

Beloved husband of Christa Wuerfel (nee Harich); loving father of Judith (William) Lemieux and Gregory (Catherine) Wuerfel; remarried and beloved husband of Shirley Wuerfel (nee Webb), beloved step-father of Sherye (the late Ralph) Ferdinardo, Lorain (Joseph) Anderson, Charles Mitchell Hill and Marlene Hill; dearest brother of Edwin Würfel and the late Leopold Würfel.

Herbert Wuerfel was a native of Germany, emigrated to Chicago in 1959, then resided in Woodridge IL, Naperville IL and Byron IL.

Herbert was a horticulturalist and landscaper; expert automobile restorer and painter, mechanic, welder, carpenter, electrician, plumber, all around craftsman and builder; outdoorsman, angler, nature and wildlife enthusiast, friend to all animals but especially a devotee of dogs and birds.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal welfare/wildlife charity of choice or donations to a holocaust survivors charity of choice.
